Rosalia volunteers get TransCanada grant

Rosalia Fire Chief Bill Tensfeld, left, and Volunteer Pat Brown hold a check for $12,000 which Whitman County Fire District 7/Rosalia Fire Department received from the TransCanada Corporation to support the upgrade of rescue equipment.

The department applied for the grant from the corporation which operated a pump station for the natural gas transmission lines at Rosalia.

Brown is employed with TransCanada.

Currently, the department requires two responders to utilize complex tools to free trapped citizens at the scene of an accident.

According to Chief Tensfeld, the procurement of upgraded rescue equipment will now be deployable by one responder in a safer and more rapid manner, allowing another EMT on the scene of an accident the ability to focus on critical patient care.

The assistance from TransCanada has allowed the fire district to expand their capabilities and provide the area with a more efficient response.
