State track coaches honor Cooper

Colfax track coach Jason Cooper has been named Coach of the Year for track by the Washington State Coaches Association for the 2B division of the WIAA classification.

Cooper last spring headed a Colfax girls’ team which won the 2B title in the state finals at Cheney.

The Colfax win by a girls’ team was the second for the Bulldogs during the 13 years Cooper has headed the program.

Cooper again credited his track team and lineup of assistant coaches for their efforts in the championship season. He noted the Bulldogs last spring had an exceptional lineup of seniors who provided leadership for the state trophy win.

Cooper is also heading the C-town project which is raising funds to help the district reconstruct the track. The C-town project will be on the agenda for the next Colfax Park Board meeting which is scheduled for Nov. 3.
