Everybody Reads author will visit Colfax, Tekoa

The novel “The Girls of No Return”, by Erin Saldin, will be the 2014 selection for Everybody Reads, a partnership of book stores, public and academic libraries across the Palouse and LC Valley encouraging all citizens to read and discuss the same book. The program culminates with a series of author appearances and community discussions.

Saldin’s Colfax appearance is set for Thursday, Nov. 13, at 10:10 a.m. in the Colfax High School Library. She will also visit Tekoa High School on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 12:10 p.m. The community is invited to attend both free events.

Saldin's young adult novel about girls, knives and redemption is set in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area that stretches across two million acres in northern Idaho. At its heart sits the Alice Marshall School, where 50 teenage girls come to escape their histories and themselves.

Saldin grew up in Idaho and worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo, West Africa, and a bartender in New York City before attending graduate school. Saldin has a master's degree in fine arts from the University of Virginia.

Her work has been selected for "The Best New American Voices" series.
