Hatley bridge job goes out for bids

Whitman County commissioners Monday approved a call for bids for the Hatley Bridge Reconstruction project.

The project will reconstruct a concrete, single-span bridge on the Pullman-Wawawai Road, to be paid for with funding from the Federal Bridge Replacement fund.

The span was built in the 1960s and is now moving off its foundation. The county has previously reduced the speed limit for the bridge and limited crossing to one truck on the span at a time.

The work is expected to be done next spring....
