Lindsay Webber tops NATS regional

Lindsay Webber, Colfax High School graduate who is now a sophomore at Baylor University, won first place honors in a regional National Association of Teachers of Singing auditions for Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

To qualify for the competition, she first had to audition at Baylor for one of the limited slots to the regional competition. At the competition, Lindsay was one of about 150 students in the division for sophomore women. The first round began Nov. 6 at Kingwood Community College in north Houston. Saturday, Nov. 7, she made the semifinal round and that afternoon was named among five finalists. She was awarded first place Saturday evening.

As a top three finisher, she qualifies to compete at the national student auditions which will be at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro July 7.

Founded in 1944, NATS is the largest professional association of teachers of singing in the world with more than 7,000 members.
