Mendoza earns Honorable nod

Whitworth University freshman Cassandra Mendoza received an Honorable Mention to the 2014 All-Northwest Conference Volleyball team. Mendoza, who graduated from Tekoa High School in June, started 25 of Whitworth’s 26 matches this season. She averaged 2.57 kills per set and was named NWC Player of the Week Nov. 3 after leading the Pirates to wins over Willamette and Linfield with 25 kills (3.57 kills per set) while hitting .220. Whitworth earned a trip to the NCAA Division III tournament.
