Pox
I couldn’t help but notice that in his partisan blast at the House of Representatives in last week’s Letter to the Editor, Norm Luther from Spokane (whom the internet shows to be the past Democrat State Committeeman from Skamania County) used the term “executive action” rather than “Executive Order” for President Obama’s illegal, illegal immigrant amnesty charade. That shows Mr. Luther knows that in spite of all the hype about an Executive Order on not deporting illegal aliens, and the stage show production about the President signing Executive Orders in Las Vegas, President Obama never signed an Executive Order granting amnesty to any immigrants. Not one!
There is no such Executive Order in the Federal Register (where Executive Orders are required to appear).
In addition, the White House website also now refers to the amnesty as an “executive action” not “Executive Order”.
It is obvious that the “Bait and Switch” President who promised “you can keep your plan if you like your plan” and “you can keep your doctor if you like your doctor” and that the average health insurance plan will cost $2400 less per year, doesn’t want to be legally responsible for this amnesty “action”.
So, he has persuaded the head of Dept.
of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson to write a “memo” granting the illegal amnesty! A memo! We can change the law with a memo? What deceit! What lawlessness!
Mr. Luther cites the “nonpartisan” CBO report claims that the Senate amnesty bill would reduce the deficit. He failed to reveal that the same report said it would lower American’s wages for over a decade, encourage border crashers, and flood the job market with low wage workers that make it harder for legal American workers to find jobs.
That is not to excuse the House of Representatives. They are funding this lawless memo action for at least the short term. It’s all smoke and mirrors. Follow the money. Both parties are doing the bidding of Wall Street and the Chamber of Commerce at the expense of the American worker. It is Crony Capitalism at its worst. Both sides want control of the tollgate. That is how small time lawyers such as Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama get into politics and become multimillionaires.
Congressmen, Senators, and Presidents have all ignored their duty and oath to uphold the Constitution so they can line their own pockets. Pox on them all.

Meals on Wheels
During this season of giving and great joy, I’d like to highlight a program that is known but not used to its capacity. The Meals on Wheels program is available 365 days a year. A hot meal is delivered by a volunteer to a homebound individual over the age of 60. Homebound simply means they are no longer able to transport themselves independently. Assistance is often needed to prepare a hot nutritious meal but not always readily available.
The Meals on Wheels program helps in many ways. Our volunteers are often the only contact the client has for the day. Our volunteers are the eyes and ears for us. We have a recipient who is unable to walk down the stairs to his newspaper box, so our volunteers will deliver their daily newspaper along with the meal. We have had volunteers come upon a recipient who has fallen, was unresponsive, or needed extra services. A guest may not answer their door. At that point, the Council on Aging is notified and we call the point of contact for that client. It is then determined if the client is at an appointment or if a Welfare check is needed by our local Sheriff.
I have been the recipient of a crocheted dishcloth when delivering meals - given to me by an individual who swears up and down she doesn’t need the meal, but, per her family - has finally started to gain weight!
Maybe you are an adult child visiting Mom or Dad for the holidays and you have concerns for their health; Please consider contacting the Council on Aging for more information on this very worthwhile service. The price is a suggested donation of $4.25 (effective January 1, 2015). We have an annual fundraiser, March for Meals, to raise funds to offset the costs of the program.
Lastly, literally hundreds of volunteers and supporters have helped the Nutrition Program, and although we cannot mention everyone in this letter, you know who you are. Please accept again the heartfelt appreciation of the staff and Board of Directors of the Council on Aging & Human Services.
Suzy McNeilly,
Dusty
