Colfax girls extended their league record to 2-0 with a 56-16 crunch of the Liberty Lancers on the road Tuesday night. The Bulldogs booked another one of their frantic starts with a 21-0 run over the Lancers in the first quarter.
Amara Huber topped the Colfax scorers with 12 points as Coach Corey Baerlocher again put all Bulldog players in the action and sometimes used a platoon system for subbing.
Baerlocher after the game credited his crew for solid defense through most of the game.
Maggie Nelson led the Lancers with six points.
Tuesday’s fast Colfax start was a repeat of a power launch Friday when they dominated the St. George’s Dragons early on the Colfax court. Colfax launched with a press in that game and held the Dragons to just one point in the first quarter.
In the 53-30 win over St. George’s, Colfax rolled out 16 points in the quarter.
The Dragons bounced back in the second quarter to keep pace, but the Bulldogs hit it again in the third frame and had a 42-19 lead going into the last frame.
Carmen Gfeller who hit five buckets on the inside, finished with a game high 12 points.
Scout Cai was credited for five assists for the night, some of them lance shots to the Bulldogs’ inside hitters.
Ceci Berquist, who has hit the top mark for the Dragons in the early campaign, had just four points against the Bulldogs. Hailey Higashi led the Dragons with 11 points.
St. George’s Saturday posted a 41-28 win over the Timberwolves at Tekoa with Berquist dropping 18 points.
Saturday night at Lakeside, the Eagles and Bulldogs battled in a close first quarter, but the hosts opened it up in the second quarter on the way to a 45-31 win over Colfax. The Bulldogs never really got back on track, and the Colfax shooting was 10-46 for the game.
Cai hit 11 points to lead the Bulldogs. Sienna Swannack hit 16 points for the Eagles.
