Wrestlers place third at Liberty Invitational

Colfax-Garfield/Palouse wrestlers placed third out of the 14 teams wrestling tournament just behind Hanford and St. Maries at the Liberty Invitational tournament Saturday.

Trapper Askins of Garfield/Palouse won the 132-pound class, and Reggie Jones of Colfax won the 152 pound class.

Eight members of the team competed in the big tournament at the Liberty gym.

Results are as follows:

132 - Trapper Askins placed first beating David Graham from Hanford 12 to 4.

132 - Travis Knauff tied for third place with Colton Mitchell of St. Maries. Tie resulted because each wrestler had reached their five match limit.

138 -Dane Hall did not place. Won 2 and lost 2.

145-Mitch Barney tied for third place with Brock Higgins of Hanford. Tie resulted because Higgins had reached his five match limit. Mitch had pinned Higgins in the second round when they wrestled in the second round of the tournament.

152 - Reggie Jones placed first, beating Rayden Blair of St. Maries 14 to 5.

195 - Brian DeYoung placed second losing to Lucas Tittel of Republic - pinned in round 1.

220 - Nick McAdams - Did not place - won 2 and lost 2.

285 - Trevin Kennedy - Did not place.

The Colfax-GP team Tuesday rolled to Pasco to compete in a league meet at Tri-Cities-Prep. Pomeroy and Lind/Ritzville/Sprague wrestlers were among other teams expected to compete.
