Garfield-Palouse dominates, 7-0

James Hollingshead of the SJE Eagles goes up for an attempt to block Tyler Thurston of the Vikings in the SE league round Saturday night at St. John.

Garfield-Palouse ran over two more opponents this week to increase their record to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in league.

The senior-dominated team with veteran coach Tim Coles has won by wide margins each time out so far in 2014-15.

Garfield-Palouse 73, Touchet 22

Tyler Thurman led the Vikings with 17 points while Mitch Jamison had 10 rebounds as Gar-Pal routed league foe Touchet in Palouse.

Cole Sanderson added 14 points and Matt Holbrook scored 13. Holbook and Thurman both had four steals.

Garfield-Palouse 69, St. John-Endicott 14

Tyler Thurman led the unbeaten Vikings with 22 points while Matt Holbrook and Cole Sanderson added 11 in a dominant road win over the Eagles (3-4, 1-2).

Pomeroy 65, Colton 40

Tyson Feider and Cole Mayfield each scored 17 points as the Pirates (7-1, 3-0) beat Colton at home Saturday. The Wildcats’ Grant Kinzer led all scorers with 20 points.

The game was a rematch of last spring’s 1B state championship game, won by Colton.

Pomeroy 59, Oakesdale 37

Pomeroy routed Oakesdale to go to 2-0 in Southeast 1B league play at Oakesdale. Cole Mayfield led the Pirates with 17 points while Tanner Dingman led the Nighthawks with 11 points.

Colton 47, Liberty Christian 40

New Colton boys coach Jason Shull raised his arms to the Colton (3-2, 2-0) fans during a timeout looking for a boost as his team worked to beat the Patriots.

The fans responded and Colton pulled away from a 39-39 tie to take the home victory.

Carter Dahmen led the Wildcats with 17 points while Austin Meyer had 15 and Lane Moore 10. Moore and Meyer combined for 17 rebounds.
