Serving Whitman County since 1877
Whitman County commissioners approved two bids for public works projects Monday.
For this year’s oil and grease budget, a bid of $29,115.29 was approved from Busch Distributing.
Oil and grease pertains to lubricants in county vehicles.
For a crushing project for rock from the county’s Repp Quarry and Union Center Quarry, commissioners approved a bid of $514,947 from DeAtley Crushing of Lewiston.
Public works hires out a similar job every five to six years to replenish its stockpiles of gravel, maintenance rock for chip-sealing and sand for winter roads.
Each of these materials comes from basalt out of Union Center, near Pullman, or Repp Quarry on the Endicott-St. John Road.
