County gets brochure

Whitman County plans to distribute brochures to employees about the danger of distracted driving.

Commissioner Art Swannack Monday said the county has identified driving while distracted as a big problem.

They found the brochure produced by the family of the late Sam Thompson of Colfax to be helpful. Thompson died in a car accident last fall near the intersection of the Albion Road and Highway 195 south of Pullman. He was believed to have been texting on a cell phone when the car he was driving collided with a semi truck.

County Health Department Director Troy Henderson told commissioners that 400 of the brochures were ordered and will be distributed as soon as possible.
