The 4H Palouse Area Robotics Team sent high school students from Colfax, Colton, Gar-Pal, Moscow and Pullman to West Valley High School to compete in their first district event of the season. Also known as Team 4061, the robotics team played against 28 other teams from all over Washington and Oregon in this year’s FRC Game, Recycle Rush. With their uniquely-built robot, Team 4061 vied for the top score scrambling for recycling totes and stacking them with garbage cans and game litter. They were honored with the Creativity Award for their “starfish” design of tote intake system.
Despite some setbacks at the start, by the end of the tournament Team 4061 had accumulated the top points for stacking totes and for recycling cans. They were the Number 1 Pick for the first alliance, top seed going into the finals. Although their alliance was knocked out of the quarter finals, Team 4061 finished in the top 10.
They have their second competition at Central Washington University on March 19-21.
