Solid rock stops bore job

An excavation and boring project on S. Main March 26 was called off when crews determined solid rock is under Main Street in the area just north of the Cooper Street bridge. The project was scheduled to install a two-inch gas line into Colfax Body Repair to serve a new, larger painting booth in the shop.

Traffic markers were placed to restrict Main Street traffic to two lanes, but excavation never started. Another course of action will be taken.

Scott Pittman said the new painting facility will be able to produce 1.2 million BTUs.
