River cleanup set in Pullman Saturday

Volunteer clean-up crews from throughout the Palouse will converge Saturday for the 11th annual Pullman Stream Clean-up. Organized by the City of Pullman and the PalouseClearwater Environmental Institute, the event attracts more than 200 students and residents each year. Crews will start at the Spring Street Park, next to the skate park, then spread out along the South Fork of the Palouse River.

Last year, crews cleaned out more than 10 cubic yards of trash and recyclables from local waterways.

More than 20 businesses and organizations support the event, providing food, drinks, trash bags, transportation and media support. Most of the crews come from Washington State University, but individuals, families, clubs, church groups and civic leaders are all well represented.
