Cliff Nolan was memorialized at Onecho Bible Church Monday morning and buried at the Dusty Cemetery that afternoon.
The funeral procession was escorted to the cemetery by the Colfax City Police Department and the Whitman County Sheriff’s Department in honor of Nolan’s former service as city police officer and Colfax Police Chief.
Later, gathering at the home of Greg and Gwen Nolan to share memories, a few tears and a lot more laughter, were his wife of 56 years, Jeanette Nolan; his son’s family, Greg, Gwen, Jason and Andrew Nolan and Emily Ovens and her children Lauren, Grady and Holden, all of Colfax; his daughter’s family, Ken and Pam Beasley and Zach of Waitsburg and Austin of Highland Village, Texas; his brother and sister-in-law, Clayt and Connie Nolan of Sparks, Nevada, all of their six children with some spouses and grandchildren including Teri Nolan, Reno, Nevada; her son Major Trevor Nolan of Ramstein Air Base, Germany; Joanne and Tom Stewart and children Kyle and Kirstin of Pacific Grove, California; Carol Nolan of Carmichael, California; Karen and Chadd Bunker of Sparks; Bill and Samantha Nolan of Sparks; Barbara Hart and children Mark McCord and Matthew Hart of Sparks; sisters-in-law Patty Wieber and children Brett and Jamie of Spokane and Karen Broeckel of Dusty; brother-in-law Al Broeckel of Tacoma; cousins Tom and Doreen Riedner of Dusty; friends, former Washington State Troopers J.J. and Kathy Bryant and Bob Peterson of Wenatchee; and Brent and Paula Meyer of Pullman.
Attending the funeral services earlier were Cliff’s nieces Laura Miltonberger of Pendleton, Oregon; Lisa Jones of Camas, Washington; and Linda Noe of The Dalles, Oregon.
Jon and Li Ochs, Vicki Broeckel and Greg and Connie Young were among approximately 65 people attending the award winning film “Dryland” and the following community discussion at The Gathering Place in LaCrosse April 2. The film depicts a story of rural resilience and the family farm with Alex McGregor and two Lind farmers, Josh Knodel and Matt Miller, who star in the film. Randy Suess served as moderator.
Harm and Jan Smith spent Easter weekend in Yakima with their daughter’s family, Gina and Jason Morgan and Micah. Celebrating with them were Bobbi and Larry Morgan, Jason’s parents, also of Yakima.
The Dick Appel family held their annual Easter dinner and egg hunt at the home of Dick and Helen Appel. Those present for the food and fun were the Eric Appel family of Dusty, Eric, Shannon, Connor, Christopher, Sarah, Kyle and Sidney; Neil Appel family of Dusty, Neil, Liz, Josh, Noemi and Issac; Travis Frei family of Palouse, Travis, Lisa, Miriam, Rachel, Emma and Colette; Jim Appel of Dusty and Mark Appel and Jamie Hughes of Steptoe.
