Gerald Robinson, 62, Garfield area farmer, was fatally injured in a farming accident Monday afternoon just south of Garfield. Robinson was flown by MedStar helicopter to Providence Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane where he died from injuries sustained in the accident.
According to a report by Sheriff Brett Myers, deputies and emergency crews responded to a report of the accident Monday afternoon just south of Garfield where Robinson had been working on a farm implement used for fertilizing fields. The reports said deputies determined Robinson had been struck in the head by a single shank off the fertilizer implement. The shank had been under pressure and coiled with a hose when it sprang loose and struck Robinson in the head.
