Bulldogs keep rolling past NE halfway point

The Colfax baseball team took two wins Tuesday in the league's longest road trip to Kettle Falls to advance the win string in the NE league to 10-0. The Bulldogs are now at the halfway point in the league campaign with the Wilbur/Creston Wildcats due in town Saturday to play a double bill started at noon at McDonald.

Cofax Tuesday defeated Kettle Falls in two seven inning games at Kettle. Scores were 11-3 and 13-2.

Coach Mike Parrish again used his top starters, Garrett Burke and Danny Robinson, after they stacked up wins against the Springdale Chargers on the Colfax field.

Burke Tuesday in the first game allowed the K-dogs just four hits in the first game while the Bulldogs stacked eight hits. Each side had one error in the opener.

Mark Webber and Burke each had two RBIs in the opener. Burke tagged two singles and a double, and Webber singled and doubled.

Colfax pegged an 8-3 lead after six innings and then capped it with three unanswered wins in the top of the seventh.

Other hitters for Colfax in the first game were Cal Gregory and Kenton Lyman, each a single, and Robinson with a double.

Kettle pitcher Cole Wren tripled for the top hit for the hosts.

Robinson in the second game also held Kettle to four hits. He fanned five and walked just one Kettle batter.

Colfax had staked a 4-2 lead after four innings and again had a big finish with four runs in the top of the seventh.

Robinson and Burke each tripled in the second game. That finished Burke's day with four hits.

Brody Yarnell doubled, and Webber and Keith Gfeller each had two hits. Other hitters for Colfax were Dustin Hall, Chris Lewis, Parker Huber and Andrew Becker.

Last Friday at McDonald Park, the Bulldogs rolled their record to 8-0 with two wins over the visiting Springdale Chargers.

"We had some great pitching, and our hitters produced enough to get the wins," Coach Parrish commented.

Colfax blanked the Chargers 10-0 in the first game and 11-1 in the second. Both games ended on the 10-run margin rule.

Garrett Burke threw a one-hitter in the first game. Burke also walked just one Charger batter and struck out eight.

First baseman Jeff Davies had two hits and three RBIs in the first game, and Becker had three RBIs in the opener.

Robinson allowed four hits, walked zero and struck out seven chargers for the 11-1 win in the second game.

Mark Webber had two hits for two RBIs in the second game, and Becker had two hits with a triple. Catcher Cal Gregory had the other hit in the second game.

The Bulldogs pegged a 4-1 lead after four innings and then stacked seven runs in the bottom of the seventh to shut it down on the 10-run rule.
