Colton sweeps Gar-Pal; Vikings beat Kendrick

Colton avoided a rainout and swept a doubleheader against Garfield-Palouse April 11 to remain unbeaten in the Southeast 1B league.

In the first game, Austin Meyer and Brady Chadwick both drove in two runs with triples.

Meyer hit another triple later in the game for Colton (10-2 overall). Other Wildcats’ hitters included Peter Schultheis with four.

For the Vikings, Gabe Cocking had three hits while Cole Sanderson had two to lead at the plate.

In the second game, Colton trailed by six runs until the fourth inning, when Colton pitchers began to control the Vikigns.

Chadwick pitched the first four innings before Nick Schultheis and Austin Meyer came in to hold off Gar-Pal as well.

At the plate for Colton, Cameron Bean led with two hits.

Wyatt Griner delivered three hits for Gar-Pal while Gabe Cocking had two.

Colton splits Orofino

doubleheader

Playing at Orofino Tuesday, the Wildcats’ Austin Meyer went 4-for-6 with three doubles and three RBIs as Colton split with the Maniacs. Grant Kinzer added five more hits on the day.

Colton won the first game by the 10-run rule at 14-4 before Orofino put together a comeback win in the second game, 9-6.

Garfield-Palouse 11, Kendrick 0

Also Tuesday, Gar-Pal junior pitcher Wyatt Griner pitched four and a half innings of a shutout, allowing two walks, before Kevin Weagraff came in to finish the road win for the Vikings.

Mason Bates lead Gar-Pal with three hits in the game including a double while Griner and Gabe Cocking both had two hits.

Gar-Pal is scheduled to play next at home Friday at 3 p.m. for a doubleheader against Liberty Christian.

Colton will host Asotin today at 4:30 p.m.
