Serving Whitman County since 1877
As many as 25 to 30 airplanes are expected Saturday morning at the second Colfax Fly-In and Pancake Breakfast at the Colfax Airport. The event is sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Chapter in Lewiston.
Organizer Barney Buckley noted the first fly-in sponsored by the EEA last year brought in 16 airplanes, and he understands members of the chapter have been recruiting more entries from around the area.
Official start of the event will be at 8 a.m. Pilots will park their airplanes on the apron near Buckley's hangar which is on the west end of the airport.
Colfax Rotary club will serve a pancake breakfast at the show beginning at 8 a.m. Cost of the breakfast will be $8. Awards will be presented in several classifications including people’s choice, and best entries in experimental, antique, classic and contemporary. Oldest and youngest pilots will be recognized along with the pilot who travels the longest distance to make the show.
Interstate Aviation will offer airplane rides. Displays are slated by the Civil Air Patrol, Nez Perce County Sheriff's Air Posse, Colfax Fire Department, Palouse Museum of Science and History, Flying Farmers and Washington Pilots Association.
The Harley Davidson three-wheel motorcycle, which has been purchased for the Whitman County Historical Society, will be displayed.
