Spatz duo

set at Dahmen

Dahmen Barn’s second summer concert Saturday will feature Greg and Caridwen Spatz from Spokane featuring their unique talents showcasing fiddle and twin-fiddle, bouzouki and banjo playing from a gamut of styles, Celtic, eastern European, French Canadian, old-time and bluegrass. Caridwen will sing uniquely haunting and multilingual vocals.

They have been playing music together since first meeting in 2000 as instructors at the British Columbia Bluegrass Workshop in Sorrento B.C.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $12 at the door in the new addition at the Dahmen Barn.

Clown reading

Charles the Clown’s reading program will presented at the Colfax Library Monday, June 29, at 4 p.m. The family show is sponsored by the Friends of Whitman County Library.

Using books right off the library shelves, the program highlights the joys and usefulness of the library. During over 30 years of performing, Charles has appeared on more than 75 radio and television programs, performed at Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm and at the hospital bedsides of seriously ill children. He is a recipient of the King County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Humanitarian Award for Community Service.

Fourteen members of chapter AF met May 26 at Jennings Elementary Library with Brenda Kneeshaw as hostess.

They responded to roll call by stating the number of school districts attended.

The education committee announced the recipients of the chapters $600 scholarships are Jolee Aeschliman and Erica Eng.

Jody Conrad lead the group in a story writing procedure.

Eighteen members and one guest gathered June 16 at Events on Main for a luncheon. to celebrate Lynn Nelson's 50 years as a P.E.O. member. Teri Heilsberg reported on her attendance as a delegate to the state convention May 29-31 at Pasco.

The Ways and Means Committee brought the group up to date on the fund raiser necklace sales and the various events attended.

Aftrer a summer break the next meeting will be Sept 28.

Graham, Grady, born June 17 at nine pounds, two ounces, to Bonnie and Logan Graham. Paternal grandparents are Linda and Randy. Maternal grandparent is Gary.
