Pullman Posse Junior Legion team, which booked a 3-1 record in a stand at Colfax over the weekend, will depart today for Walla Walla to compete in a four-day tournament. The Posse club rolls south with an 8-3 record after the 3-1 weekend stand at Colfax.
Posse defeated the Shadle Park Junior Legion team twice on Saturday at McDonald Park and then split with East Valley Sunday in Junior Legion ball.
Saturday in the opener, Brody Yarnell held the Shadle team to just four hits over six innings while the Posse offense rattled off 12 hits. Yarnell fanned seven Shadle batters in the first game.
Posse led 10-1 after two innings. Spencer Walker had two hits with a triple in the first game. Evan Parks, Joey Vannucci, Alex Pan and Jake Mendiola each had two hits.
In the second game Saturday, Posse rapped Shadle 22-1 with a 14-hit attack.
Pitcher Tim McAleer allowed Shadle just three hits, and the one run scored by the Spokane team was unearned. McAleer and Parks each had three hits, and Parks finished with six RBIs.
Posse scored nine in the fifth inning to shut the game down.
Sunday, Posse nipped East Valley 5-4 in the first game. The visitors scored three runs off their lone hit in the top of the seventh to take a 4-3 lead, but Posse came back to score two in the bottom of the seventh for the win. Chris Parrish hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the deciding run.
Jake Cillay pitched into the seventh, and Wyatt Griner shut off the EV rally.
East Valley came back for a 5-4 win in the second game which locked up a 4-4 after five innings and it wasn’t decided until the bottom of the ninth when EV scored the tie-breaker on a sacrifice hit.
Posse out-hit EV 11-8 in the closer. Griner had two hits with a triple in the second game, and Parks and Walker each had two hits with a double.
