District 12 chief declares ban

Whitman County Rural District 12 Fire Chief Lester Erwin Friday declared a burn ban in effect for the rural district due to the extreme fire danger.

District 12 extends to Kamiak Butte, the state line, the Johnson cut off road on 195 to the south and the landfill road on 195 to the north. The ban is in effect until further notice....
