Jennings poems go to press

Two Colfax Jennings Elementary School students have been published in a poetry book as part of a contest they entered as third-graders. Encouraged by student teacher Cody Spencer, who now teaches pre-school in Endicott, Dani Getz and Lauren Aladee entered the “America Library of Poetry Contest” in the spring of 2013 and found out last September they will be published.

The collection of national student work is called “Accolades.”

“These two little girls worked so hard on these poems,” said Spencer. “Writes and rewrites and rewrites.”
