Swim league launches under Tri-State names

After 50 years as the Whitman County Swim League, members voted to change the name to Tri-County Swim League. This name more accurately represents the geographic distribution of league members.

The championship meet at the end of the season will remain the Jerry Cluckey Memorial Swim Meet sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. The meet will be at Colfax Aug. 1.

Dayton in Columbia County and Pomeroy in Garfield County are recognized in the new Tri-County handle. Both have been big competitors in the league in past seasons.

League action started Thursday and will continue on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
