Many locals attended memorial services for Gayle Startin in Hooper Sunday. Tom Mays officiated and Tim Stamper sang. Alex McGregor shared sentimental memories about Gayle’s life. A barbecue picnic followed in the Hooper Mercantile store building.
Recent guests at the home of Tom and Doreen Riedner were Tom’s brother, Bob Riedner of Billings, Mont.; his niece Lisa Colson and her daughter Grace of Casper, Wyo.; and Bob’s friend, Greg Nelson of McCall, Idaho. They came to attend a wedding in Colton for niece Casey Riedner to Matthew Simmons.
Karen and Larry Light of Portland visited her parents, David and Phyllis Stueckle, over the weekend.
Funeral services for Madge Griner, sister to the late Shirley Eggers and aunt to Duane Steiger, were Friday in Spokane. Bryan Jones also attended.
Guest speaker Sunday at Country Bible Church was George Hippe, Executive Director of Eagle Summit Ministry, Professor at Moody Institute and Trainer for “Walk Through the Bible”. He will speak again this Sunday, July 26, at 10 a.m., substituting for Pastor Steve Szasz.
Dick and Helen Appel’s Kunkel grandchildren, Zack, Kade, Elly and Luciene, spent last week visiting their grandparents. Their mother Caroline was counseling at a junior high girls church camp.
Monday afternoon visitors at the home of Karen Broeckel were former LaCrosse classmate Carmi Cummings Thompson, Mt. Vernon, and Jim McCauley, Victor, Mont. The pair had attended their high school reunion in Dayton over the weekend.
