A service for Shirley Johnson Kimberling, 73, former resident of Moscow and Colfax, was July 7 at Lewiston. She has been cremated and an inurment service will be at a later date at the Freeze Cemetery in Idaho.
Mrs. Kimberling, who resided in Culdesac, Idaho, died unexpectedly at Wilderness Gateway Campground on the Lochsa River in Idaho where she and her husband served as campground hosts for several years.
Born Oct. 17, 1941, at Dunn Center, ND, to Frank and Helen Gage Johnson, she moved with her parents to Hatter Creek, Idaho, to live near her mother's family. She attended Princeton and Potlatch schools and graduated from Moscow High School in 1959.
She and Karl Kimberling were married Jan. 24, 1959, in Moscow. They spent most of their married life living in Moscow and Colfax until they retired to Culdesac where they lived for the past 15 years.
She worked as a meat cutter at Safeway until she retired more than a decade ago. They spent the past several summers as camp hosts at Powell Ranger Station and at Gateway.
Surviving are her husband, Karl, at the home; children, Kevin (Teresa) Kimberling, Colfax; K.C. Kimberling, Culdesac; Maripaul (Clint) Gazaway Spokane and Kathryn Kimberling (Sam) of Moscow; grandson Frank Kimberling, now of Spokane, was raised in their home at Colfax. They have seven other grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are her siblings, Eugene Johnson of Lewiston; Anne Bell of Moscow and Frances (Tom) Shauvin of Colton, Ore.
