The Garfield Municipal Pool is back in stride after a three-week delay in opening for the summer due to an electrical matter following installment of a new filter system.
The pool opened July 8 after waiting for state inspection of the work, which included new subpanels too.
“We had to re-do all of that without electrocuting the kids,” said Pool Manager Missy Cochran.
The work began at the start of June, but the electrical was not up to code. In turn, Harrison Electric of Colfax was called and they arrived to hook up the new pump, set up grounding and bonding in the poolhouse and de-energize the pool lights.
The inspection came July 3 after lifeguards and swimmers waited.
The initial work replaced the original filter.
“It was on its way out,” said Cochran. “You’d have to tinker with it to get it to go.”
