Donna Marie Flatt
Donna Marie Flatt, 82, formerly of St. John, died on Thursday, July 23, in Richland. A graveside service for family only will be Aug. 1 at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane.
Hallie Vogler Goodrich
A private, family committal service for Hallie Mae Vogler Goodrich, 101, former Dusty farm woman who resided in Colfax since 1957, will be at the Dusty Cemetery. She died last Tuesday, July 21, 2015.
Born March 27, 1914, in Minnesota to Faye and Engie Walker, she moved with her family to Potlatch where they farmed and her father worked at the mill. She met Emmanuel (Man) Vogler at a grange hall dance, and they were married May 5, 1930, in the church his father founded at Dusty. They farmed their entire married lives and raised their children, Edgar, Donna and Kay, near Dusty.
Mr. Vogler died Oct. 16, 1957, and she and daughter Kay moved to Colfax. She worked many years in central supply for St. Ignatius Hospital and then Whitman Community Hospital. She met Joe Goodrich in Colfax, and they were married Feb. 11, 1976, at the United Methodist Church in Colfax.
She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, raising flowers, knitting and crocheting.
Mr. Goodrich died in 2001.
Surviving are her son, Edgar (Millie) Vogler of BenLomond, Calif .; daughter Kay (David) Brooks, Billings, Mont .; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Whitman Hospital Foundation.

Boyd A. Hoidal
A celebration of life for Boyd A. Hoidal, 58, will be Saturday, Aug. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Hoidal home, 1241 Nora Creek Road, in Troy, Idaho. A potluck luncheon will follow the service.
Mr. Hoidal died Friday, July 24, 2015, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle following a stroke he suffered Wednesday morning.
Mr. Hoidal was born on Oct. 28, 1956, in Moscow, Idaho, to Alden and Daisy Femreite Hoidal. He was raised on the family farm near Troy, Idaho. He attended schools in Troy and graduated from Troy High School in 1975. Following high school, he attended the University of Idaho for one year, then Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston where he studied auto mechanics.
He married Beverly R. Krasselt Sept. 8, 1979, at Palouse. They made their home at Potlatch for the next 20 years and moved to Troy in 1999.
Boyd has worked as an auto technician in Pullman all of his life. He worked for Wysup Chrysler Jeep Dodge Dealership in Pullman, formerly Neill Motors, since 1979.
He was a member of the Elmore United Methodist Church at Potlatch. He enjoyed hunting, hiking, cutting firewood, and spending time outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly, at the family home, two daughters, Alison (Dan) Steel of Moscow and Amanda (Drew) Vaughan of California; one granddaughter; and a brother, Brian Hoidal of Potlatch.

A memorial service for Steve Allen McSweeney, 64, lifelong resident of Colfax, will be Thursday, July 30, at 10:30 a.m. at the Palouse Empire Fair Community Building. Burial will be at the St. John Cemetery.
Steven A. McSweeney
Mr. McSweeney died last Thursday, July 23, 2015, at his residence in Colfax.
Born April 3, 1951, in Colfax to H. Allen and Frances Irene (Ratliffe) McSweeney, he was raised in Colfax and participated in youth sports before high school. He was a member of the 1969 class of Colfax High School.
He studied agriculture at Yakima Community College and Spokane Community College, and then returned to Colfax where he was employed as a parts man at McSweeney Tractor Co. He later worked as a parts man at Colfax Grange Supply.
He and Delcie Furry of Colfax were married June 26, 1971, and they had three sons. After that marriage ended he married Cynthia Olson.
He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles including helping his father with his Model Ts and rebuilding a Chevrolet Camaro. He also drove Colfax students to the annual prom in his limousine
Surviving are his father, H. Allen McSweeney, Colfax; sons, Shawn McSweeney, Colfax; Ryan (Amanda) McSweeney, Renton, and Mark (Jennifer) McSweeney, Sammamish; stepchildren John and Kathie Cook; a sister, Linda (LeRoy) Johnson, Pullman; and seven grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions go to a local food bank.
Lloyd Mitzimberg
The funeral service for Lloyd Harlen Mitzimberg was July 20 at Fairmont Cemetery in Spokane. Mr. Mitzimberg, 80, died July 13, 2015. He and Shirley, his wife of 60 years, resided in Malden.
Born Nov. 22, 1934, in Viola, Idaho, to Carl and Margie Marshall Mitzimberg, he was a logger for over 55 years.
He ran skidder, jammer and highline.
In the early 1960’s he operated the first rubber tire skidder that came to Spokane.
He also drove logging trucks and was also a sawyer and mechanic.
He is survived by brothers Ed, Worley, Idaho, and Carl, Post Falls, Idaho, and sister Mary Lou Kimberling of Garfield, eight children, Jacqueline Mitzimberg of Diamond Debbie Beddingfield of St. John, Doug Mitzimberg, Cheney; Lisa Weed, Spokane; Greg Mitzimberg, Malden; Tammy Mitzimberg and Renee Hamilton, Bellingham; and Kenny Mitzimberg, Florida; 36 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren.
Dorothy Ray
A rosary service for Dorothy Schweiger Ray, 86, former Colfax resident who has resided at Liberty Lake since 2007, will be today, Thursday at 7 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colfax with Mass of Christian Burial, also at St. Patrick's, Friday at 10:30 a.m.
Mrs. Ray died Wednesday, July 22, 2015, in Spokane.
Born Jan., 10, 1929, at Mockonema to Albert and Lucinda Schreck Schweiger, she moved with her family to Colfax and graduated from Marycliff High School in Spokane in 1947. She and DeLoss Ray were married Nov. 23, 1949. They had four children and she was employed as a telephone operator.
She was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed sewing and artistic hobbies.
Mr. Ray died in 1998, and she moved to Liberty Lake after suffering a stroke in 2007.
Surviving are her children, Steven (Janice) Ray, Spokane; Scott (Robin) Ray, Spokane; Sandy (Paul) Hunt, Harrisburg, N.C., and Sharon Ray, Phoenix, Ariz .; a brother, Lewis Schweiger, Richland; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations can be made to the St. Patrick's Church Altar Society or Hospice House in Palouse.
