Cougars finish in Legion top eight

Whitman Cougars played four games and finished in the top eight of the 16-team state Legion A division state tournament over the weekend at Walla Walla.

The Cougars started with a 10-0 shutout of Olympia in the first game Saturday and then ran into the Richland Knights who took a 4-14 win Sunday.

That put the Cougars into an elimination game, and they stuck in the action with a 11-7 over Montesano Monday.

Then they played Richland again Tuesday in another elimination round and sustaind a 3-12 loss to end their state run at 2-2.

In front, from the left, are Grady Benton, Luke Ross, Blake Bodey, Connor Parrish, Logan Gingerich and Chase Hayton.

In back, from the left, are Noah Beach, Ty Hendrickson, Jeff Marlow, Zane Wilson, Kyle Zakarison, Payton Kallaher, Parker Huber and Coach Gabby Rodriquez.

Also on the team was Ryan Wolf of Pomeroy.

Bodey, Huber and Gingerich are from Colfax and Beach is from Rosalia.

All other players are from Pullman.
