Moscow suspects appear

A Sept. 14 trial date was scheduled for Christopher K. Humphrey, one of two Moscow suspects charged with possession of stolen property in the second degree, after he pleaded not guilty Friday morning in superior court.

Arraignment of the other suspect, Taylor S. Line, was scheduled for Aug. 7. He faces the same charge. Line’s arraignment was delayed because he did not have an attorney with him Friday morning in court.

The charge relates to a pickup truck which was found stalled July 24 along the Old Moscow Road. Items found in the truck were alleged to have been reported stolen by residents in the area.

According to the arrest report, a deputy on patrol discovered a pickup truck which had been parked along the road with one wheel over the bank near the four mile mark.

A woman in the truck told the deputy the truck had run out of gas, and they expected help to return. Humphrey was also in the truck, and Line was identified as the owner of the pickup.

The report said a woman drove up to the scene and poured fuel into the gas tank of the stopped truck. It said the two people in the stopped pickup moved to the other vehicle and left the scene.

The deputy said he looked into the truck and saw several items which appeared to match up with items reportedly taken from residents in the area. One of the victims identified items which could be seen in the pickup.

The deputy obtained a search warrant and recovered other items in the truck in a subsequent search. Among items in the truck which were allegedly stolen were two Vandals Track and Field Championship rings, a shop vacuum and a socket wrench set.
