Palouse council okays cash fund for drug buys

The city of Palouse approved a $500 petty cash fund July 28 to create a police department confidential informant fund.

The designation provides money for the Palouse Police Department for use by informants to make controlled buys of drugs from suspects.

The resolution, which was passed unanimously by the city council, was requested by Police Chief Jerry Neumann, who said it will aid in the department’s ongoing work.

Noting a reduced presence by the Quad Cites Drug Task Force in the Palouse/Garfield area, Neumann suggested a need has arisen.
