On last Thursday evening, when the clerk at F. W. Gaines' store went to take in his display of goods from before the store, preparatory to closing for the night, he found that some of his goods had departed.
Some tramp during the evening had picked up six pairs of pants and stripped a fine coat and vest off of a dummy and made way with the same.
Mr. Gaines was not at home.
Only one man was at the store at the time and while he was engaged in the rear of the store, it is thought the thief quietly got in his work.
His loss was some $30.
