Port launches revised, user friendly website

The Port of Whitman County recently launched a re-designed website.

Port Properties and Development Manager Debbie Snell reported to Port commissioners Aug. 20 that the new website is up and running.

The website features a re-designed interface that the Port believes is more user friendly.

Joe Poiré, executive director at the Port, said, "we're slowly tightening things up," but the website is functional.

Snell said the website now has a parallax view, meaning the entire site is on one page that users scroll through.

"We're trying to make it a little more user friendly and interesting," she said.

Other updates include simplifying some of the language in the text, adding a Port history slideshow, adding more information, adding infographics and fun facts and increasing the ease of navigation.

"It's a visual and streamlined look," Snell said.

The website went live about two weeks ago, and Snell said there has been very little feedback about the website so far. She also said they tried to add more personality to the website by adding a banner with the current Port staff and commissioners.

"We were trying to give it a human face," Snell said.

The website will be an ongoing project, which the Port will update as needed and as time goes on, Snell added.

"Every year we'll continue to update it and try to put new things on it."
