There are many youth programs to choose from at the Colfax Library from Early Learning Story times to after school programs and events for teens.
For kids under six years old, Thursday for Early Learning Story time began Sept. 17. Story time at the Colfax Branch is divided into three age groups: baby time for ages 0-2 from 10:10-10:30 a.m., toddler time for ages 2-3 from 10:30-11:00 a.m. and preschool time for ages 4- 5 from 11-11:30 a.m. Story time offers a valuable listening and pre-reading experience for children. A variety of books and activities cater to infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their families.
The focus this year is “Learning the Alphabet from A to Z” featuring letters and sounds. Each week a new letter is introduced with visual and phonemic activities.
Other programs for families with young children include Play & Learn playgroups each Friday beginning Sept. 18 from 10-11:30 a.m. and kids dance classes. The playgroup welcomes all parents and caregivers with young children.
Dance classes are offered by Rising Star Dance Studio. Call Keri Oldroyd at 509-432-6961 for registration forms and pricing.
Third Thursday is an after school program for grades 1-4. This event offers Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) based activities from 3:30-4:30 p.m. beginning today Sept. 17. Jennings Elementary kids may take bus 16 with a parental note.
