Cowboy poets set for Empire Theatre reading

Cowboy Poets David Nordquist, Dick Warwick, Gene Buchholz, Lou Ann Carter and Jim Aasen are coming to the Tekoa Empire Theatre Sunday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m.

Cowboy poetry is a traditionally rhymed and open-ended verse, based on what was a western way of life but updated into today's world.

Nordquist, born and raised in Ellensburg, spent his early years in the rodeo. Dick Warwick, Oakesdale, is a fourth generation Oakesdale area farmer and has written poetry his whole life.
