Guest list for surprise birthday lists 103 people

Dusty

Relatives of Fran Jones gathered the weekend of September 12, for a surprise celebration of her 90th year.

Her actual birthday isn’t until December so it was indeed a great surprise.

Fran’s children organized the bash: Bryan Jones of Dusty, Bruce and Hanna Jones from Vermont, Warren and Julie Jones from Hayden, Regena Jones and Mario Maero from Italy along with cousin Sharon Urtaza from New Mexico.

Emelie, Annie and Abel Jones, along with Meggie and Damien Perron were also all present at the event.

When asked which of the guests were the biggest surprise, she replied that it was a toss-up between two former exchange students, Megumi Fukushima from Japan (1977-78) and Stefano Torri from Italy (1989-90).

Of course, seeing her nephew David Edwards and his wife Silvana from Singapore and another nephew Gary Crock and his family from Shanghai was also a shock.

Nephew Harley Crock, Sunnyvale, Calif.; Sharon Spencer and Nancy and Paul Harlan, Los Angeles; and Chris Brevick and his family from Boise were all in attendance as well.

Canadians came from as far away as Toronto, Ontario and Whitehorse, in the Yukon.

Nieces and nephews far too many to name here, totaling 40 Canadians, brought the final total to 103.

The family regrets very much that Patsy and Mike Kromm from George, Wash., were unable to attend, but they do very much appreciate Patsy’s contribution of a whole lot of fresh peach pie.

Li and Jon Ochs provided their help and hospitality.

Dick and Helen Appel have welcomed a new granddaughter, born last Sunday. Her name is Abigail Rose Lynch. Her parents are Sue and Joe Lynch of Layfayette, Ind.

Bruce Wollstein, Lacey, and his sons-in-law David Lohrmeyer, Gig Harbor; Pat Corrigan, Bellevue, and Elliot Moon, Corvallis, spent the weekend at the home of Dick and Helen Apple. Dick joined them in attending the WSU football game Saturday.

Cross Country musical group performed the entire worship service last Sunday at the Oakesdale Presbyterian Church.

David and Phyllis Stueckle spent four days as guests of Reuben and Judy Stueckle at Ocean Shores last week. Friday, they attended memorial services for friend and former Albion resident Charles Lohr in Spokane.
