Tekoa/Rosalia Timberwolves booked their first win of the season in a big way Friday night when they rolled past Yakama Tribal 66-16. The T-Wolves ripped 28 quick points in the first quarter to take control of the game.
Cody Thornton, who had rolled for 205 yards on the night and four TDs, hit the first score for the T-Wolves, and Trenton Gregory broke out for a 31-yard run for the second tally.
Chase Neill scored the third TD in the opener on a 35 yard poss play launched by Thornton.
TD runs by Gregory for 57 yards and Thornton for 67 yards stacked up the huge point lead for the T-Wolves.
The visiting Eagles began to get traction in the second quarter and moved the ball, but they had trouble putting down points in the end zone. They had their first score in the second quarter when QB Yenowat Eagleheart hit Noah Pastrana who scooped in the ball with a juggle catch.
The Eagles also had a threat going at the end of the first half, but they ran out of time with the clock rolling on quick time after TR extended their lead beyond 40 points.
Halftime score was 50-8. The hosts capped the half with Thornton rolling for 60 yards, and Zach Robertson rolling for 25 yards off an interception.
Second half scores for the T-wolves were on a 70-yard capper by Thornton and a 65-yard pass play from freshman Kaleb Allen to Alex Pakootas.
Justin Strom scored the last TD for the Eagles on a 30-yard run.
