Pumpkin hunts

start near Palouse

Enchanted Paths in Palouse will host a fall pumpkin celebration Friday and Saturday evenings leading up to Halloween starting Oct.16, from 4 to 7 p.m. Hot dogs and cups of lavender spiced cider will be available by the fire pit, Specially-etched and grown “Go Cougs” pumpkins will be available. Kids activities and the gift shop will also be open. Outside of those hours, people are welcome to come by and pick out a pumpkin.

Enchanted Paths is located at 1702 Stan Willcox Road, Palouse.

Hog Heaven band

slated for Dahmen

Hog Heaven Big Band will play tunes from the Great American Song Book Saturday, Aug. 24, 7:30 to 9:30 at Dahmen Barn in Uniontown. Admission is $5 per person at the door and refreshments, including beer and wines from Wawawai Canyon Winery, will be available. The 16-piece big band has been playing on the Palouse for decades and at the Barn since it opened in 2006. This is the last appearance of the band at the Dahmen Barn until spring.

CLUBS & YOUTH GROUPS

Genealogical Society

Whitman County Genealogical Society will sponsor fall seminar Oct. 24 at 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ridgepine Clubhouse in Pullman. Topics will include the Salem Witch Trials, Daughters of the American Revolution research, and preserving family history for future generations, according to Sue Kreikenmeier, society president.

Hospital Auxiliary

Fifteen members of Whitman Hospital Auxiliary met Oct. 5 in the hospital annex and planned for the Christmas luncheon which will be at the United Methodist Church. Cost will be $14.

A quilt for the auxiliary's Christmas raffle will be displayed in the hospital and tickets for the raffle will be available in the Bluebird Shop.

Eleven members received flu shots provided by the hospital. Next meeting will be Nov. 9 in the annex.

Chapter AF met Oct. 12 at Robyn Johnson's. Mae Schultz served as co-hostess, and 23 members responded to roll call by stating their favorite sports team.

The Chapter was honored to have the state chapter vice president as a guest.

Next meeting is scheduled Oct. 26 at the Courtyard. Shirley Richardson will host and Lynn Nelson will co-host. Teri Heilsberg will be in charge of the program.

Members were reminded to bring two small gifts for the scholarship recipients.

Golden, Augustus Blaine, born Oct. 11 at seven pounds, seven ounces, to Blaine and Sara Golden, Colfax. Paternal grandparents are Dave and Mary Golden, Spokane. Maternal grandparents are Don and Terri LeFors, Spokane. Baby joins brothers Henry and John.

ON CAMPUS

University of Idaho's Prichard Gallery, 414-416 S. Main, Moscow, will feature Lynne Haagensen's digital imagery developed off drawings from museums and travels in Spain and photos by Lance Lushnig Oct. 16 to Dec. 6. A reception will be opening day beginning at 5 p.m., and the artists talk will be Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
