BARBARA LEE CHENEY

Barbara Lee Cheney, 71, former St. John resident who resided in Manhattan, Kan., died Oct. 22, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House.

Born at Colorado Springs, Colo., July 17, 1944, to Michael and E. Juanito Imler Yanosko, she graduated from high school in St. John and joined the US Navy in 1963 during the Vietnam War. She was discharged in 1968 and was later employed with Western Farm Service in St. John.

Surviving are a daughter, Michele (Michael) Magar, Manhattan; a son, Aaron Cheney, Spokane; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

At the family's request there will be no services. Memorial donations are suggested to go to the St. John Fire Department, Box 221, St. John, 99171.

MARIAN McCLAIN SCHRENK

Marian McClain Schrenk, 96, former resident of LaCrosse and Pullman, died Oct. 6, 2015, in Bellevue. Her only child, Norene Schrenk Torgerson, moved her to Bellevue from Spokane to be closer to her family in 2007.

Born in Prosser, Nov. 14, 1918, she moved to LaCrosse with her mother, Rose McClain, after her father died when she was six months old. They resided with her mother's sister and family, the Butterfields. Marian graduated from LaCrosse High School in 1937. She often spoke about playing on the LaCrosse High School girls’ basketball team.

She married Ernest Schrenk in 1939, and they lived on the family farm near Dusty until 1947 when they moved to Pullman. He was chief of the WSU Campus Police Force until he retired, and they moved to Spokane in the early ‘70’s. He died in 2001.

She is survived by her daughter, two granddaughters and great-grandchildren. There were no funeral services.
