BERYLA L. MARTIN

Beryla L. Martin, 89, lifelong LaCrosse resident, died Oct. 31, 2015, at the Whitman Hospital in Colfax. Born Aug. 12, 1926, in Spokane to Homer and Georgia Pickard Woodward, she grew up in LaCrosse and graduated from high school there in 1944. Her parents ran the insurance business in town, and Beryla kept active in high school sports.

She married Alfred Martin of LaCrosse Sept. 15, 1949. She worked in the insurance business for several years as an office manager and she also was the clerk for Fire District Eight for 35 years. Her husband, Alfred, worked for the grain growers.

Following retirement, they enjoyed spending time in their motorhome and going fishing together. Beryla always loved to read books and work crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred, at their LaCrosse home and by one daughter Marla Martin of Arizona. Services are not planned at this time. Memorial gifts may be made to the LaCrosse Cemetery Fund.
