REBECCA CHOATE

Rebecca C. Choate, 71, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at her home in Tekoa from an apparent heart attack.

Born April 20, 1944, at Ellensburg to Franklin and Clara Tatlinger Robinson, she attended schools at Ellensburg and moved to Tekoa in 1982 with her companion, Emanuel Mendoza. Becky was a homemaker for most of her adult life. Emanuel died in 2009, and she has continued to make her home in Tekoa.

Becky enjoyed playing card games on her home computer, and she loved her animals.

Survivors include her three children, Fred Michael Shanks of Centennial, Colo., Gary Choate Jr. of Yakima, and Cody Choate of New Mexico; a brother, Fredrick Franklin Robinson, and a sister, Harriette Wheeler, and five grandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be given to the charity of donor’s choice.

ADA KINSINGER

Ada Mae Kinsinger, 77, longtime area Steptoe resident, died at her Colfax home Nov. 9, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. A funeral service was Tuesday, Nov. 17 at the Bruning Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tim Fox, one of her children, officiating. Private family burial followed at the Colfax Cemetery.

Born July 26, 1938, in Roanoke, Va., to Thomas and Mary Kauffman Worley, she was one of 22 siblings. She is survived by her five children Charles (Becky) Hall, Arla K. Stanard, Tonya (Dean) Prewitt, Timothy (Terri) Fox and Theresa (Travis) Blofsky. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Wayne Kinsinger, in 2007.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Whitman Hospital Auxiliary to benefit the comfort care quilting program or to the Council on Aging.

BOBBY DEAN KJACK

A graveside service for Bobby Dean (Bob) Kjack, 82,will be at the Pine City Cemetery Saturday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. with a celebration of life following in the basement of the Rosalia United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Mr. Kjack died Nov. 14, 2015, in Spokane

Born June 3, 1933,to Ted and Irene Kjack in Rosalia, he graduated from Rosalia High School where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He married Carol Tupling, also a Rosalia graduate, June 27, 1959. Together, they raised a son, David, and a daughter, Terri. Shortly after graduating from high school, Bob started refereeing junior high basketball in Pine City. He was a member of the Rosalia Gun Club, the Plaza Grange, as well as a board member of the former Rosalia Producers for 25 years, serving several terms as board president. He was also a volunteer firefighter for Fire District 3 out of Plaza.

Bob was an avid fisherman, hunter and sports enthusiast he attended high school sporting events well after his own children had graduated from high school. Before retiring from farming, he decided to take on another challenge and learn the sport of golf. He spent many days at the St. John Golf Club and other courses in the area, and was a member of the Twilight Golf League in St. John.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, son David, daughter Terri Long (Jetson), and grandkids Tyler Moore-Long and Haley Moore-Long.

The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Rosalia United Methodist Church, Rosalia Ambulance Fund, Hospice House of Spokane, or the Charity of the donor's choice.

GALE MILLION

Funeral services for Gale Million, 89, were Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Garfield Christian Fellowship Church with Pastor Phil Weagraff officiating. Burial followed at the Garfield Cemetery. Mr. Million died early Nov. 11, 2015 morning at the Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane.

Born July 26, 1926, at Potlatch, Idaho, to Elbert and Dessie Chambers Million, he attended the Garfield Schools and enlisted in the United States Navy July 24, 1944, and was later discharged for medical reasons.

He married Marjorie Griner Jan. 2, 1947, at Garfield and the couple made their home at Garfield where he was employed as a welder for Dave Neal Manufacturing Co. for 20 years. Later he worked for J. B. Trimble Grain Co. for several years and for the J.E. Love Co. for a few years. Gale also worked for R.A. Hanson Co. in Palouse for a few years. In 1973, he started working for Washington State University as a maintenance mechanic and retired in 1988.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marjorie Million, at the Garfield home, one son Roger Million, Garfield; one daughter, Crystal Hanson (Lee) Spokane; one sister, Elma Prophet, Eugene, Ore .; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Diana Roper.

Memorials may be given to the Garfield E.M.S. or to the Garfield Cemetery beautification fund in care of James Storms, Box 235, Garfield, 99130.

JOHNNIE SNOVER

Johnnie A. Snover, 80, Tekoa, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at the Tekoa Care Center where he has resided since 2010.

Born June 3, 1935, at Flint, Mich., he attended schools in Michigan and then moved to California where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. He moved to Tekoa in 1980 and worked for a local fertilizer company as a field machine operator. He later worked for Wilbur Ellis as a warehouseman.

He married Peggy Jean Deaton in September of 1982, and the couple made their home in Tekoa. Mrs. Snover passed away in 2014.

His hobbies included woodworking and leather works. He was an expert mechanic.

Survivors include his children, daughter Merry Snover, daughter Brenda Jane Penn, a son Fred Barge, a step-daughter, Linda (Jerry) Babb of Tekoa, and several grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Bill Snover and a sister Loreta Hahn.

At his request, no services will be held. Kramer Funeral Home of Tekoa made the arrangements.

LEONA WEST

A graveside service for Leona Mottaz West, 96, was at the St. John Cemetery Monday, Nov. 16, and was followed by a fellowship reception at the St. John Methodist Church. Mrs. West, 96, died Nov. 7, 2015, at Chewelah. She was the widow of Millard Eugene West, who was from St. John. He died Aug. 27, 1997, after 56 years of marriage, and was buried at the cemetery in St. John.

Married July 3, 1941, they operated a dairy farm in the Chewelah area and later managed apartment complexes in Spokane.

Born Feb. 6, 1919, in Rudyard, Mont, she moved with her family to Spokane in 1926 graduated from North Central High School in 1939.

Surviving are four children Dennis West (Patricia) of Chewelah, Alan West (Lori) of Spokane, Gary West (Gail) of Spokane; and Vickie Nussbaum (Gary) of Chewelah; seven grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

Monaghan rite set

Heather Robinson Monaghan, 39, a member of the 1994 class at Oakesdale High School, died last Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, from injuries sustained in a auto accident in Spokane Valley. Born in Colfax June 3, 1976, to Steven and Erin Wing Robinson, she attended school in Oakesdale.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, Nov. 21, at 10:30 a.m. at the Seltice Room of Garden Plaza, 545 Garden Plaza Court, Post Falls.

Memorial gifts can be given to the Kootenai County Humane Society.
