Oakesdale stops Pomeroy for 1B title

In the spring of 2014, after three straight state 1B volleyball championships, the Tekoa-Oakesdale cooperative split up. After 30 years, Tekoa and Rosalia joined together and Oakesdale was on its own.

On Saturday, Oakesdale won the state championship.

A young team of two home-schoolers, two freshman starters and one senior – a few of Oakesdale’s total student population of 37 – beat Pomeroy in four sets at the Yakima SunDome.
