Garfield restores council, mayor pay

Garfield mayor Ray McCown has brought back pay to the city council and mayor position after three years of the representatives voluntarily serving without pay.

“For the last few years, we've just waived our wages,” said McCown. “I feel like we've got two, three council members that could use it.”

At the Dec. 2 city council meeting, McCown introduced resolution 2015-07, setting salary schedules for public officials and employees of the town of Garfield.

The city council passed it unanimously, still with the option to decline their pay.

The dollars have been budgeted for each year.
