A public hearing has been set for rezoning a satellite property for Uniontown Co-operative Association.
The 2.9-acre site on Leon Road is currently zoned as agricultural and would change to limited heavy industrial.
The co-op’s plan for the site includes moving a scale and truck loading spout away from the road to the backside of the property. The location includes a crib elevator and two free-standing grain bins.
If the new zoning is approved, work is expected to take place next spring.
“It’s going to operate the way it always has,” said Neil Nuxoll, Manager of Uniontown Co-operative Association. “The new zoning would just make it easier to make changes in the future.”
The hearing is set for Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. at the county commissioners chamber.
No conditional use permit – and required public hearing – is needed in heavy industrial districts. A property owner may just apply for a building permit, which requires no public hearing.
