Sam Mellor plays in all-star game

Sam Mellor of Colfax, a senior defensive lineman for Southern Virginia University, was selected to be a member of the Stars & Stripes team which played a team of all-stars from private universities in Mexico at Tijuana Saturday in the Tazon de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars). Southern Virginia, located in Buena Vista, was one of 27 NCAA division three teams represented on the Stars & Stripes team which won Saturday’s game 15-14. A member of the 2010 class at Colfax High School, Mellor is majoring in pre-medicine and plans to graduate next fall. Mellor totaled 60 tackles while playing for the Knights this season.
