Yarnells will depart for Arizona tournament

Brody Yarnell, a junior at Colfax High School, will depart this week to participate in the Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting and National Tournament which will get underway Sunday in Mesa, Ariz. Yarnell was among 130 boys across the nation selected to compete in the four-day tournament. He learned of his selection Oct. 6 after a tryout at Gonzaga Prep in Spokane. He and his family have since been raising funds to pay for participation in the tournament and travel to and from Arizona. His family, including mom Blaire Daniel, dad Alan Yarnell, and 12 year old brother Joseph, will travel with him.

The players will be divided into teams and play at the Gene Autry Sports Complex, the former training site for the Los Angeles Angels.

Yarnell said he has been preparing by practicing indoors each day.

In Arizona, the forecast calls for nothing but sunny skies with temperatures in the high 50s. His mom, who is from the Phoenix area, said she is excited to be in warmer temperatures.

Yarnell has played spring baseball with the Colfax High School team, summer with the American Legion Pullman Posse team and fall ball with the Colfax Crawdads.
