Serving Whitman County since 1877
A free U.S. Department of Homeland Security course, "Mobilizing Faith-Based Community Organizations in Preparing for Disaster," will be offered Jan. 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Whitman County Public Service Building in Colfax. Organization representatives, emergency managers and first responders from rural communities will engage in a reciprocal approach to disaster planning.
The course emphasizes grassroots mobilization and coordination efforts as a means of engaging all faith communities, thereby reaching those most vulnerable to disaster, most frequently excluded from the planning process and ultimately most difficult to aid in recovery.
Registration is required with the deadline the day of the event.
