Bulldog wrestlers place 6th at Warden

Colfax wrestlers placed sixth at the Jeremiah Schmunk Invitational in Warden, 70 points behind the 212.5 first-place finish by the host Warden team. The Garfield-Palouse contingent was booked for 11 points which, if combined with the Bulldogs, would have put the locals into fifth place ahead of Brewster.

Other team scores for the invitational included Tonasket 153, Kittitas 127, Concrete 123, Brewster 71, Okanogan 66.5, Lake Roosevelt 66, Mt. Baker 65, Connell 30, Pateros 11 and Riverview 12.

Mitch Barney led Colfax with a second-place finish after battling Jorge Juarez of Tonasket into the last round of the title match in the 152 class and losing in the last 13 seconds.

Colfax again had three of their seven entrants in the 145-pound class with Reggie Jones and Travis Knauff going into the consolation final and Jones winning with just one-point.

Dane Hall worked his way through the consolation round after losing to Knauff and took a 10-3 decision over Zion Butler for fifth place.

Last Wednesday Colfax and Garfield-Palouse wrestlers tied with West Valley for ninth place in the Freeman tournament. Each team bagged 77 points behind the 204 win scored by Deer Park wrestlers.

Advancing to the title round were Travis Knauff of GP, who was pinned in the second round by a Priest River opponent in the 145-pound class, and Mitch Barney, who was pinned by D. Lockwood of Deer Park in the title round of the 152-pound class.
