MRI machine hoisted at Whitman Hospital

Whitman Hospital and Medical Center received a new MRI machine Tuesday, which had to be hoisted into the building using a crane.

The 12,000-pound unit should be ready for use by the end of February, said Laurie Gronning, public relations for the hospital.

Gronning said it is unique for a hospital to have an MRI machine on any floor other than the ground level, as they are not easy to get inside buildings in the first place.

The crane hoisted the machine up to scaffolding which rested at this second floor doorway which was removed for the purpose of bringing the machine in.
